5. Lower self-discharge
Why are lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles?
Lithium-ion batteries are currently used in most of the electric vehicles, and predominantly in 2W and 4W, because of their higher energy per unit mass relative to other electrical energy storage systems.
How to charge a lithium-ion battery?
Please refer and follow the standard instructions provided by the OEM Charger or Battery Manual. It is highly recommended to follow safe operation of Lithium Ion Batteries and standard protocols as per the guidelines of OEM. Any sort of battery or/and charger tampering or/abuse may not only degrade the life of the battery, but also can potentially lead to thermal runaway issues.
Give me any guidelines for Using Lithium-ion Batteries?
Use only lithium-ion cells with a designated protection circuit board and indeed with an approved charger. Do not short-circuit, overcharge, crush, drop, mutilate, penetrate with foreign objects, apply reverse polarity, expose to high temperature or disassemble packs and cells.
What are the standard guidelines for Charging Lithium-based Batteries?
Charge at a moderate temperature. Do not charge either at freezing temperature or at hot ambient conditions, and when the battery is directly exposed to the sun light or dust or water or humidity. Apply charging to an empty battery for a smaller amount of time before storing (40 to 50 percent SOC is ideal for the storage of the battery).
How does temperature affect my batteries?
Higher temperature, i.e. above 45°C can cause degradation to the battery and also reduce the efficiency of the battery, and the effect of higher temperature will be worse during the charging process compared to the discharging process. At lower temperatures, below 10°C, charging the battery to full capacity will be extremely difficult and discharging rates will not achieve the best of the battery potential. Hence, it is strongly recommended to charge the battery between 25°C to 35°C, and operate the battery for discharging between 15°C to 45°C.
How Fast Will My Lithium Battery recharge?
The answer depends on the total Amp Hour (AH) rating of your Lithium Battery pack and the current output rating of your charger. The recommended time for charging the Lithium battery is around 3 to 4 hours or higher, as faster charging can cause significant degradation to the life of the battery and also lead to thermal runaway issues
Which type of charger to use for a lithium-ion battery?
If you have bought the vehicle or battery from PURE, strictly use the charger supplied by PURE, with the matching current and voltage
How to Charge and When to Charge?
1. KeepStore Lithium-ion at partial charge in a cool place
2. Battery at a moderate temperature
3. Avoid deep cycling
4. Avoid abuse
5. Avoid ultra-fast charge
How to protect the battery?
Cell protection can be external to the battery and this is one of the prime functions of the Battery ManagementSystem.
How to maintain the battery?
Brand new batteries should be given a full charge cycle before use. Routine checks should be conducted on the battery’s charge status as per the guidelines in the manual.
How to do transportation?
Always check all applicable local and national safety regulations before transporting a Lithium-Ion battery. Contact your nearest dealer and it is imperative to transport the battery in the standard packaging materials and box supplied by PURE.
What are the features and benefits of a Lithium-ion battery?
1. Integrated BMS (Battery-Management system)
2. Fast Charge Capable
3. Low self-discharge
4. Long Cycle Life
5. High Energy Density
6. High Voltage
7. Environmentally Preferred
8. Very efficient
Any safety guidelines?
Do not short-circuit the Li-ion battery. Do not short-circuit the Li-ion battery.Do not dismantle, crush, puncture, open or shred the Li-ion battery.Do not expose Li-ion battery to heat or fire. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Do not use any charger other than that specifically provided for use with the Li-ion battery. Keep the Li-ion battery clean and dry.
How are the individual cells balanced in the lithium battery?
The active BMS, which is an integral part of all PURE batteries, automatically balances the cells in both current and voltage modes, depending upon each cell condition. Balancing can take place during charging, idle and discharge modes, and will not have an effect on the functionality of the Li-ion battery. Please see our battery data sheets for certain salient features of BMS parameters.
What is your battery Charging Safety?
To properly connect the charger to the scooter battery, it is strongly recommended to charge your battery in a well ventilated area, dry, cool and non-dusty area
